Battery Life Is To Be Increased
A department of OLPC project, making the screens for XO machine, called Pixel Qi, plans to furnish laptops with battery which lives can last for 20-40 hours. Mary Lou Jepsen from Pixel Qi believes that this innovation will be introduced in the first half of the next year.
Jepsen says: “We are working with a number of notebook and e-book makers on a number of different form factors”. The company can enable an increase of 5-10X battery life from one charge to another unlike a standard notebook. An owner will have the possibility to recharge its batteries in the interval of 20-40 hours instead of a few ones as usually.
The poor battery life is a weak moment of the current devices. Even seven hours use, offered by the Sony Vaio TZ and some others, are not enough for the laptop owners of today. So they do hope to get soon increased battery life, and Pixel Qi is one of those to live up their hopes.
Moreover Jepsen talks about their intentions to make their screens cheaper, but unfortunately cannot reveal the secret of what stuff is to be used in these screens, but everyone can find it reasonable that it will have some similarity to that used by the XO.
